| Parenting Support |
| Is Parent Support for us? All parents need support! Some parents receive support from their spouse and family, church or synogogue, or neighbors and friends. Others find themselves alone as parents and want reassurance that they are good, appropriate parents. Often new mothers are suprised by how hard it can be to get out of the house and meet people after having a baby and find themselves depressed and lonely. Would I benefit from Parent Support? Single parents, step-parents, adoptive parents, foster parents, and parents of children with mental and physical disabilities often need a little extra support with parenting. Parents of biters, hitters, and kickers can also feel frustrated and wonder what they are doing wrong when in fact they are trying very hard to do everything right and need reassurance and guidance. Parents of teenagers often need someone to talk to about the new alien in their home. And parents who were abused or neglected as children often feel their own issues arise as they parent their children. Will I be told how to parent? Absolutely not. Chances are you are doing everything you can to make your home a peaceful one. You will be given space to talk and let your feelings be heard, reassurance, and a possible list of resources and support groups in your area if appropriate. You will also be given time to explore your frustrations and joys as a parent. |
